Rosberg demands a better car in 2008!

Nico Rosberg stated that he was essential to his Williams team during the 2007 season and is demanding a better car in the future.

The German was one of the key players of the 2007 season and, because of this, he was linked more than once to the seat left vacant by Alonso at McLaren before Kovalainen was officially chosen.

The Williams team ultimately was not interested in ‘selling’ the 22-year-old driver who was under contract at that time. On the contrary, the contract was extended by a year, and Rosberg will therefore remain with his team until 2009.

With this higher status and the ever-increasing demand for performance, the German wanted more resources to fulfill his requests: « When we were in Asia for the races in China and Japan, I wrote a very long email to the team with the things I needed for the future, » Rosberg revealed to the Swiss magazine Motorsport Aktuell.

He also insists that he must make progress on the track himself to be at the front of the grid more often.

« I want to stay with them, » said Rosberg about his team based in Oxfordshire.

« It is therefore necessary for me to have a better car. 2007 was a big step forward. We improved many things at the same time, and playing a central role in the next steps of the process is a very strong motivation. »
