François Duval has shown interest in becoming a Stobart M-Sport driver for the longer term in 2008 rather than just for a single event, and at least securing the necessary conditions with the team to participate in more than one rally.
The Belgian driver has indeed signed a contract with the Stobart M-Sport team to compete in the 76th Monte-Carlo Rally in the fourth Ford Focus, alongside the official Ford drivers. However, the former Citroën driver believes he can make a comeback during the season based on his performance in Monaco.
« It’s a real gift that came from the sky, which is actually normal at this time of year! » jokes Duval.
I also hope that this collaboration will continue after Monte Carlo, but for this, I will need to achieve a (very) good result there.
Several drivers have already conducted winter tests on the roads of Drôme and Ardèche, such as Loeb and Sordo. Unfortunately for the Belgian, he didn’t participate in the event in 2007 and knows little about the special stages. He is therefore relying heavily on his preparation and his recent winter tests to give him the means to achieve his goal.
I owe this opportunity to Steven Vergalle, who, as an individual, decided to support me [See previous Article]. Moreover, the crew will be 100% Belgian for once since my co-pilot will be Eddy Chevalier. He already has good experience in the World Rally Championship, so he will be a valuable help. Concluded François Duval.
