The N. Technology team likely experienced its last season in the WTCC, World Touring Car Championship, in 2007.
The team had the only two remaining Alfa Romeo 156 cars still in the championship, but with the Italian brand deciding to withdraw… it’s the hope of several men that is shattered.
James Thompson, the team’s most productive driver this season, has expressed his willingness to independently enter a car in 2008, as long as it’s once again with an Alfa Romeo 156 from N. Technology.
Indeed, according to the British driver, the team could have found a facility to design its independent Alfa Romeos if no better solution was found, and with the performances shown in 2007, Thompson sees only future success in this.
« The team is in talks with the 2007 manufacturers to secure a car, and they really deserve it. » Stated Thompson.
« I hope that will happen, otherwise we will have to present ourselves on the track as independents. In any case, whatever the conditions, the guys are really good and I am sure they will give me the best car… »
Thompson has been present in the WTCC championship since 2005, precisely with an Alfa Romeo and the same team. He then joined Seat Sport in 2006 before returning to the Italian team in 2007. Today, the Englishman does not want to leave this team anymore.
« To be good, you need to have good relationships and especially long relationships. Today, I know all the potential and everything this team is capable of… I don’t want to leave it. »
According to the latest rumors, Honda could supply the team with Civics in 2008. The last remaining option being an Alfa Romeo 156 as an Independent.
