Mosley attacked again by Stewart

Max Mosley has once again rejected calls from former world champion Jackie Stewart to step down from the head of the FIA.

Stewart has been particularly critical this year of the FIA in handling the Ferrari-McLaren espionage case. In a recent speech at the Monaco Business forum, he stated that it was time to eliminate any remaining doubts. This requires appointing a new president.

« There should be total independence and impartiality in the administration that governs this sport, » said Stewart.

But Mosley, who had already disparaged the former world champion in September by saying he had half a mind, once again rejected Stewart’s request.

« Dear old Jackie, » he said.

« He knows nothing about the governance of this sport. He talks a lot, he doesn’t know much. »

« The worst is when you get lost in your ideas. As far as I know, the only thing that matters to me is contributing to the emergence of new ideas and new technologies. Steering that goes in the same direction. That is the motivating factor, » declared Mosley.

Mosley added that he was still undecided on a new term as president.

« I sometimes jokingly say that F1 is run by two retirees! In reality, I don’t really think that, and neither does Bernie, but I believe that at a certain point you have to know when to stop. »
