The leaders of the A1 Grand Prix, also known as the World Cup of motorsport, recently announced they are going green for the next round of the season.
Indeed, during the 5th race of the 2007-2008 season in New Zealand, the A1GP series will be powered exclusively by biofuels.
The series had planned to use this type of fuel from the beginning of the season, but they then preferred to delay this implementation to ensure the good performance and reliability of the Zytek engines, suppliers for this season, before handing over to Ferrari.
The initial pre-season tests had taken place at Silverstone and had been successful, but as a precaution, a few additional laps were necessary.
The A1 GP will therefore be the first automobile competition not to pollute on the circuits. The inauguration of the clean A1 is scheduled for January 20th in Taupo.
