The WTCC – World Touring Car Championship – has announced its official and final 2008 calendar. The main change compared to the previous one published just two weeks ago: the return of Mexico.
Indeed, Mexico will once again host a round of the WTCC championship in 2008. After a year of absence, the 3.2 km Miguel E. Abed circuit in Puebla Amozoc will host the 3rd and 4th rounds of the championship on the weekend of April 6, 2008.
The WTCC has already run two races in Puebla: Fabrizio Giovanardi (Alfa Romeo) and Peter Terting (SEAT) won in 2005, while Salvatore Tavano and Augusto Farfus achieved a double victory for Alfa Romeo the following year.
It was also the most significant popular success of the WTCC with 71,000 and 76,000 spectators during the two editions.
Regarding the weekend in Portugal, the Estoril circuit has indeed been confirmed. In 2008, the WTTC calendar will consist of 12 events and, consequently, 24 races.
