Bridgestone has signed a new contract with the FIA to become the official tire supplier in Formula 1 for the next three seasons.
The Japanese company won the tender for the supply of tires from 2008 until 2010 and has therefore formalized it with a new contract that the company has just signed.
Bridgestone was, this year, the sole tire supplier in F1, following Michelin’s withdrawal at the end of 2006.
Bridgestone Motorsport Director Hiroshi Yasukawa stated: « Becoming the ‘official tire supplier for the Formula 1 World Championship’ is an honor for Bridgestone, and we are looking forward to the start of the 2008 season with great anticipation. »
Our participation in F1 is a central element in the expansion and development of our company. It was an important step which is proving to be even more exciting for us.
Bridgestone has also agreed with the FIA to promote the “Think Before You Drive” campaign, which is a road safety initiative, for the next three years.
