Holder of an engineering degree, Kris Meeke was invited by Subaru to test the Subaru Impreza WRC 2007. More than just a test, the Irishman had a job interview to join the Banbury team.
« It was like an interview in a WRC bucket », he jokes.
After a few runs, the former protégé of Colin McRae shared his opinion on the car’s behavior. Then the technical team made some adjustments to the settings before handing the Impreza back to its driver for the day. On five occasions, the JWRC host had to discover the differences and assess them. « It was a very interesting experience. I received very positive feedback from the engineers. »
Proof of Kris Meeke’s good work, the Irishman was invited to assist two Prodrive clients in driving and tuning their Impreza WRC 2006. Subaru might call on him for the development of the brand new Impreza WRC 2008, which will appear only during the next season.
