Luca Filippi, who finished fourth this season in the GP2 series championship, is reportedly in the running, according to a Swiss newspaper, to become a full-time driver at Super-Aguri for 2008.
According to Blik – a high-circulation daily newspaper beyond the Alps – the Italian could indeed take Anthony Davidson’s place alongside Takuma Sato.
The Japanese team has been experiencing financial difficulties for a few months, and the 22-year-old driver would be a breath of fresh air for the team led by Mr. Aguri, potentially bringing up to 10 million euros into the coffers.
Filippi, who raced in 2007 with Super-Nova, has already driven for the Japanese team in private testing two weeks ago during private testing in Barcelona. He was also driving for Honda last week in Jerez.
