The A1 Team New Zealand and A1 Team Switzerland have decided to give new rookie drivers a chance to prove themselves in Zhuhai during the first free practice session.
These are reserved exclusively for rookie drivers – racing in A1GP for the first time or only for the first season.
Switzerland will also use, in addition to Neel Jani – the main driver who won the last two races in Malaysia – the young Alexandre Imperatori, who is only 20 years old and a driver in the Asian Formula Renault series.
New Zealand has chosen Earl Bamber on its side. A young driver currently competing in Formula Junior in Europe. His objective will be to prepare the best single-seater for his counterpart Johnny Reid, who will once again be part of the fourth round of the season.
These drivers, having already raced several times on the Zhuhai circuit with their championship, will be a solid support for the teams to gather the best setup – tuning – for their single-seaters.
