Frenchman Romain Grosjean became a member of the Renault Driver Development Program in 2006 after triumphing in the French Formula Renault 2.0 Championship. Although his first season in the F3 Euroseries the following year was more challenging, his talent and determination were noticed.
In his second season in this competitive championship, Romain, behind the wheel of the highly efficient ASM single-seater, had only one goal: to win the title. At the end of an impressive season which saw him secure 6 victories, achieve 6 podiums, and claim 4 pole positions, Romain was crowned champion.
Next season, the 21-year-old young man will race in the GP2 Series with the French team ART Grand Prix, which was crowned in 2005 and 2006, respectively with Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton at the helm. In 2008, Romain will help the team reclaim the crown that eluded them this year.
Romain Grosjean comments: « So far, the week has been good for me! First, I was named the test driver for the ING Renault F1 Team, and today we announce that I will race with ART next season. »
« This also means that I will be racing with the same team with which I won in the F3 Euroseries as ASM and ART are the same organization. I know that my success in 2007 is due to the good relationship the team and I maintain. I’m really looking forward to us tackling this new challenge together. »
« I know that I also have the support of Renault. I think 2008 will be a very important year for me, » he concluded.
