Felipe Massa believes that the new regulation banning traction control will restrict overtaking during F1 races. This will, of course, have an impact on the beauty of the sport in general.

« One thing is clear: you can ban anti-skid, but if the aerodynamics remain the same, it won’t give you anything at all, » said the Ferrari driver to the newspaper La Republica.

« The mechanical grip should have been higher. You know what the result will be? The cars will be more difficult to drive, and you won’t see any overtaking.

« If people’s expectations are based on a situation where overtaking must be frequent, they will soon be disappointed. This is how it will happen; there will be more chances of making mistakes in many situations. But there will be no overtaking. Let’s hope we don’t see any serious accidents, » the Brazilian stated.

Anti-skid systems will be banned starting in 2008. While most drivers see these changes as a step forward, Massa has warned about the dangers of this new regulation.

The driver insisted that the new regulations will lead to more accidents.

« It will be easier to get off the track. If you drive over a puddle of fuel, it is certain that you will lose grip. There will be nothing to do, » said Massa.

« Not to mention, the moments when we run in wet conditions. On a wet track, everything becomes more dangerous and there it will be even worse. »

« There will be a show in store for the spectators, it will be very enjoyable for them but much less enjoyable in terms of security, » he concluded.
