Brawn has faith in Barrichello

Ross Brawn, the principal of the Honda team, reaffirmed his full confidence in Rubens Barrichello. Recent speculations suggested that his position in the team was under threat.

The Brazilian hasn’t scored a single point in the world championship this year, and rumors since the end of the season have cast doubt on his future with the team.

Last week, a German newspaper reported that Barrichello was about to be moved to Super-Aguri to make way for Fernando Alonso.

But Brawn has once again stated that he has full confidence in his two drivers, Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button.

« Rubens is one year away from the end of his contract. I think the past year has been very difficult for him due to problems with the car, » said Brawn.

Personally, I think there is no reason not to continue with them (Barrichello and Button) because both drivers have proven they can win races.

« I have no concerns about the drivers. There are many other much more important challenges that have reasons to concern the entire team, » he continued.

« I am eager to work with Jenson. I have never worked with him before. He has always impressed me and he has a great reputation within the team. »

Brawn made his first public appearance with his new status on Sunday night at the Autosport Awards, and he is expected this week at the Jerez tests in Spain.

Having just started working at Honda last week, Brawn said he was impressed with what he found in the team.

« They gave me a picture of the situation, and I must say that what I found here is even better than what they had described to me before. I am very happy with what I discovered during my first week at Honda, » he stated.

« There is a huge challenge ahead of us, but all the resources, all the tools are in place, and people are very enthusiastic and committed to seeking victories. »

« Even with all the tools, the most important thing is the perfect understanding between people. I came here and found people who are very enthusiastic and very ambitious for the future. »

« Their enthusiasm was almost palpable. I did not have to face a general lack of motivation, which would have been disappointing, » concluded Brawn.
