Chitwood: « Indianapolis will be back in F1 »

The Indianapolis circuit boss Joy said that he is convinced that F1 will return to his circuit in the near future, despite the event being removed from the 2008 calendar.

Bernie Ecclestone and the officials of the Indianapolis circuit could not reach an agreement on organizing a United States Grand Prix next year. Instead, the circuit has agreed to host a MotoGP event.

But despite the many questions about whether or not F1 will return to Indianapolis one day, Chitwood stated that he believes in an agreement between the various parties involved.

« I think F1 will return, I really expect it, » said Chitwood as reported by Bloomberg news agency.

There is nothing definitive, but I think there has been some dialogue. And that all parties will be able to find common ground and everyone will be able to benefit from the progress that will have been made.

Chitwood specified that Indianapolis certainly has the desire to bring back F1, especially after investing so much money to host the races for many years.

We have made a lot of investments in the circuit and all related infrastructures.

« We were disappointed when the event disappeared from the official calendar. For us, the goal is to see if we can bring it back in the short or medium term, » concluded Chitwood.
