Andy Priaulx recently finished his racing season in the WTCC – the World Touring Car Championship – and about a week after his third consecutive title in the discipline at the last race, the Briton believes he has experienced one of his best seasons in motorsport.
« I am sure that when I look back on my career in about ten years, I will think that this season will have been one of my best, » stated Priaulx.
« And yet, nothing has been easy for us. »
Indeed, the championship battle was extremely close, with the Frenchman Yvan Muller in a Seat being tied on points with Andy Priaulx in a BMW before the final round in Macau.
BMW secured two titles this season [driver and constructor], but nothing was decided in advance and we only found out on the last lap of the final race of the season…
Aged 33 and after so many victories, one can only imagine doing less well in the future, but the Englishman refuses this hypothesis and wants to be at the peak of his craft until his retirement.
« One might think that with everything that has happened to me, the only possible path for me now would be ‘descent’, but I don’t want to imagine that. »
