Switzerland won the second race of the day, known as Endurance, and capitalized on it to take the lead in the championship. Néel Jani delivered another great performance, finishing 8 seconds ahead of Brazilian Jimenez and France, with Loic Duval, once again making it to the podium.

Under the summer sun, the Swiss got off to a very good start and by the end of the first lap (out of 35) was already 2.5 seconds ahead of Oliver Jarvis for Great Britain. Suffering from a gearbox problem when shifting to 5th gear, the Briton couldn’t keep up with the pace set by the Swiss, and was overtaken by Brazil—despite starting 6th—and France, dropping to 4th place by the second lap already.

After several trouble-free laps and ten laps before the end of the race, the safety car entered the track following an incident in the middle of the pack between Canada and South Africa. Hit by Portugal during braking, both drivers were forced to retire.

The safety car on track, the gap opened up by Neel Jani – leading by about 11 seconds – was reduced to nothing before he pitted to refuel like many other drivers.

Upon exiting the pits, France, Switzerland, and Brazil were side by side, but it was the Swiss who managed to break away the best, and Brazil after a fierce battle with Duval.

The Netherlands secures a very nice 4th position ahead of China, India, and Ireland. New Zealand, who was leading the championship before this weekend, only finishes this race in 8th position, not enough to retain the lead, ahead of Australia.

Michael Ammermuller, who started second, was the victim of a mechanical problem. He finishes only 13th after a beautiful podium finish in the first race. He still manages to stay ahead of Alex Yoong – at home.
