Klien would be ready to do anything to become a driver for Force India…

Christian Klien would be in favor of a shootout, meaning a kind of skill test that would measure him against other drivers with the aim of securing a race driver position. In this case, his opponents would be Tonio Liuzzi and Ralf Schumacher.

Klien, who has already participated in the private tests in Barcelona last week with Force India, is eager to make his return to F1 after spending the year 2007 as a test driver for Honda.

The stakes are high since it’s simply a race car driver position alongside Sutil that is at play. Thus, it’s understandable that Liuzzi and Schumacher are also in the starting blocks for an F1 spot for the entire year of 2008.

Klien, who believes he has what it takes to win, welcomed the idea.

« If Force India has chosen to design « a shoot-out » I will do it because I am obliged to do so. I will do my best and don’t worry about the other drivers, » declared Klien on his official site.

« When I came out victorious in karting, in Formula Renault, and in Formula 3 against other drivers, I never concerned myself with them. I just have to ensure the race car runs properly, and everything will be fine.

« As long as you have the necessary equipment and you have team members who support you, then you have as much chance as your opponents. If these conditions are met, it is easier to show what you are capable of, » he admitted.

Regarding any potential decision from Force India, Klien states that he does not expect an announcement at the moment.

« The Force India team will make a decision when it is ready, and I am convinced that it will consider several factors for this important choice, » he said.

I don’t know their timeline, but in the meantime, I am very happy to be part of their testing program and to have the opportunity to work with the team at such an important moment in its development.

« My job is to give 100% to all the tasks assigned to me, and that’s the main thing for now, » concluded Klien.
