Kazuki Nakajima inherited Alexander Wurz’s place at Williams in 2008. A few weeks ago, the Japanese test driver for the Grove team did not think for a minute he would become a full-time driver next season.

He indeed commented a month ago, after his first Grand Prix with Williams replacing Wurz, now retired, that his future would probably be as a GP2 driver, but he never imagined for a second that he would catch Williams’ attention.

« Unfortunately, I think it will be impossible for me to secure a seat as a starter next season… Another year in GP2 would probably be likely. » Commented Nakajima a month ago.

He continued, hoping to prove his worth on the F1 stage during the upcoming test in the first week of December in Jerez.

I will conduct more tests with Williams before Christmas. It will then be a good opportunity to show what I can do, but in my opinion, I won’t be a full-time F1 driver in 2008.

« Alex Wurz by giving me his place at the last Grand Prix really helped me to make a name for myself. It may be very useful in my future to secure a spot in F1 with a good team, especially since Williams has helped me a lot with the test driver position. »

Nakajima will be Rosberg’s teammate next season. Two drivers from GP2, young and talented. The situation will be ideal to compare the two men.
