Alonso is in no hurry to decide on his future

Double world champion Fernando Alonso is not in a hurry to comment on his future plans, says his manager, as the Spaniard is once again at the center of rumors regarding his indecisive situation for a return to Renault next season.

Alonso has parted ways with the McLaren-Mercedes team after a tumultuous 2007. The latest speculations link the Spaniard to Renault or Red Bull.

The last tests of 2007 are scheduled to take place in Jerez, Spain, in two weeks. Ideally, Alonso would benefit from spending some time with his new team.

Luis Garcia Abad said on BBC radio: « He will decide his future when he knows the best option available to him. Fernando is on vacation and we have nothing to say for the moment. »

Red Bull Racing has already confirmed that Mark Webber and David Coulthard will be under contract for 2008.

But that didn’t stop the rumors from spreading like wildfire in the F1 milieu, since one of the two drivers mentioned earlier could have been sidelined to make way for Alonso.

Renault, for its part, must still confirm the second driver if Alonso were to join the French team for next season.

The boss Flavio Briatore at the beginning of the week mentioned a 60% chance for the Spaniard to rejoin the team with which he won his two world titles.
