Giancarlo Fisichella stated that he had other possibilities to be present in F1 if Renault decides not to extend his contract and to part ways with him.
The future of the Italian within the French team seems increasingly uncertain. The team boss, Flavio Briatore, said on Monday that Renault would have other drivers in 2008.
The team of course aims to bring back and sign a contract with the double world champion, Fernando Alonso. The years 2005 and 2006 were the Renault and Alonso years because each party was crowned twice (2 driver titles for the Spaniard and 2 constructor titles for the French team).
Fisichella admits not really knowing what is happening at Renault, but he said that Renault is not his only option for next year.
« I still don’t know anything. I want to continue being an F1 race driver, and now, I’m going to take a look around everywhere, » announced Fisichella in the columns of Corriere dello Sport.
« I am considering other possibilities. There is not only Renault, there are other teams, but I have not signed any contract with anyone for now. »
