Toyota will unveil its new car for the 2008 season on January 10, the Japanese team announced Tuesday.
The TF108 will be unveiled to the world from Cologne, Germany, where one of the technical factories of the Japanese F1 giant is located.
The team’s course of action became clearer at the beginning of the week as Timo Glock was confirmed as a race driver with the team.
This announcement was delayed because the German’s former employer, in this case BMW-Sauber, was against the idea of letting their test driver go. The matter had to be settled before the Contract Recognition Board, which ruled that Glock could join Toyota. The second driver will still be Jarno Trulli.
Toyota hopes that this new single-seater will allow them to bounce back in 2008 after a particularly disappointing 2007 season, in which the team finished in sixth place with only 13 points.
Since entering the world of F1 in 2002, the Japanese team has not yet won a single Grand Prix, so why not in 2008?
