David Richards, head of the company Prodrive, who was expected to enter the 2008 Formula 1 World Championship as planned last season, has confirmed his ambitions in the WRC championship with Subaru.
Richards provides the WRC versions of the Subaru cars entered in 2007 but is currently working little with the Japanese firm. However, starting next season, the Englishman plans to focus much more on possible improvements, especially since after a home rally, the Subaru drivers were not even able to reach the finish…
« It’s very clear about our average performances… » Admitted Richards. « Everyone, and I mean everyone, will therefore comply with our new plan. »
Despite being the 2003 world champion team, Subaru only achieved its last victory in the discipline two seasons ago. For Petter Solberg, the number one driver, as well as for the Japanese team.
« For that, I will have to change quite a few things in the team, and if that requires making big changes, I will make them… »
« I’m really not afraid to break traditions within the team, » concluded the Briton, referring to the team’s structure.
Richards will therefore indirectly take the reins of the team starting next season.
