Hamilton welcomes the ban on anti-skid systems

McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton is thrilled about the upcoming races that will take place without traction control, as it will be banned in F1 starting from the beginning of the next season.

« I think it will be more fun. I can’t wait to go racing. I think it will be interesting, » said Hamilton to autosport.com.

« It’s a good challenge and I like challenges. I enjoyed driving GP2 cars without traction control, same with F3 Euro Series single-seaters. It’s a new technique, it’s a different driving technique, so the situation will be interesting. »

Traction control was admitted in F1 since 2001, so the FIA decided to ban this practice again in 2008.

Hamilton admits that this ban will make life even more difficult for the drivers, but he is not yet sure if it will allow for better performance in races.

« I honestly have no idea. I only have one season of F1 under my belt. I haven’t driven the car without traction control, I don’t know if that will make the situation more exciting.

« In that case, I think it will be more difficult for us. One thing is certain, it will be more difficult for the tires, » he stated.

« I can only assume that it will be more difficult for all of us. Maybe more mistakes ahead, like more off-track excursions. If we are the best drivers in the world, we should be able to handle it, » concluded Hamilton.
