Bruno Spengler strongly criticized the tactics employed by Audi throughout the 2007 DTM season that concluded a few weeks ago.
In the German touring championship, lost by three points to Mattias Ekstrom, the Canadian believes that Audi’s approach towards its drivers has been different throughout the season, showing a certain favoritism.
Spengler, the Mercedes driver, has often been involved in collisions this year, but quite often and strangely due to Audi drivers.
« We fought very hard, but justice clearly wasn’t the same on both sides at the end of the championship, » stated the Canadian.
During the penultimate race of the season in Spain, we remember that Mercedes had taken out two of the Audi championship leaders, prompting the team with the rings to withdraw all its cars from the race. Justice was exemplary at that time by severely penalizing the two drivers responsible for the collisions.
The Mercedes driver thus complains of an inequity between the two teams, but it is now too late to change the situation: « Unfortunately, the result is not what it should be, but you cannot change it. »
« It was a complicated year, but I think we drove as fairly as possible all season… » Concluded the Canadian.
