Esteban Ocon will start from the pit lane at the Mexican Grand Prix
Alpine broke its driver's Park Fermé to install old parts on Esteban Ocon's car. The French driver will therefore start from the pit lane.
The Mexican Grand Prix is far from being a smooth sailing for Alpine. Struggling all weekend, the French team only experienced the bottom of the standings. The only glimmer of hope is Pierre Gasly, who is the only one on the team to have managed to get out of Q1.
His teammate, Esteban Ocon, could not do better than the 19th time. But a few hours before the start, the FIA indicated that the Normand would finally not start from this position. Indeed, Alpine mechanics broke the Parc Fermé on car number 31.
They have installed new components there: battery pack and an electronic control unit. All these components have already been used before. This does not incur a penalty, but since the Parc Fermé was breached, he will have to start from the pit lane. They will therefore only be nineteen on the starting grid.
