Guanyu Zhou will start last in Baku
The Chinese driver changed several engine parts on his single-seater. These new elements are not part of the limit allowed by the regulations, explaining the various penalties.
These sanctions will not change much for him. Qualified penultimate in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Guanyu Zhou will not feel much the weight of the various penalties he received during the third free practice session.
This Saturday, September 14, driver Stake changed several engine components on his single-seater. However, these do not comply with the regulations. The various installed parts exceed the quota set by the FIA each season.
In Baku, the driver benefited from a third battery and a third electronic control unit. Each season, each man can only use two of each. For a first offense for an engine part, a driver receives a ten-place penalty. So, here, with two elements, it’s twenty places.
But the regulation is strict. Beyond fifteen penalty positions, the punishment is more severe as it leads to the last place on the grid.
