Alexander Albon is optimistic Williams can return to the points table at Monza
After a very complicated weekend in the Netherlands, Alexander Albon believes that the Williams will be more at ease at Monza. Top speed, which was lacking in Zandvoort, could be a strong point here.
He returns from Zandvoort with a poor result: 14th. Although the Williams is not very effective, the Thai driver has often managed to make it work. With four points scored, it is he who has provided all the funds to his team. Logan Sargeant, who is being replaced as of this weekend, has never managed to come close to it.
But from Great Britain, it’s a void for Williams. The situation could still change at Monza. Alexander Albon believes he has a chance to perform well in the Temple of Speed. “I think everything will be fine. I think we will be in the battle for points, obviously at the bottom of the scale, maybe not sixth, but let’s try. I think we have a decent car,” he said during a press conference.
The Thai driver has once again been consulted about his new teammate. This weekend, it’s Franco Colapinto who will share the Williams garage. A young driver who doesn’t have much experience. He replaces Logan Sargeant, who was dropped after another accident in Zandvoort.
This change of garage neighbor is not a problem for Alexander Albon. He prefers not to think about it. I am rather focused on my own path. He is a great guy (Logan) and things didn’t work out but I’m sure that whatever he does, he will be very good. I know his pace and at the same time, of course, Franco is arriving now, so there is a certain learning curve, but I think he is arriving at the right time. If I could choose a circuit to make my first race, I think Monza is one of the most forgiving, better than Baku or Singapore.
