After Spa and Zandvoort, Charles Leclerc hopes for another podium finish at Monza

Charles Leclerc seems to be getting back on track with his Ferrari. The Monegasque scored two podiums in the last two races. For his home Grand Prix, the Scuderia has made a number of changes. Enough to make it three? The driver in number 16 hopes so.

After Spa and Zandvoort, Charles Leclerc hopes for another podium finish at Monza

“Never two without three? Charles Leclerc has achieved two consecutive podiums, one at Spa and the other at Zandvoort. Welcome results after a rather complicated period at Ferrari since the victory in the streets of the Principality.”

The pace of the prancing horse car is well below expectations. The changes made by the Italian team were not conclusive and Ferrari took a step back. However, the team has recently regained some performance, as evidenced by the results in Belgium and the Netherlands. Nevertheless, Charles Leclerc prefers not to get carried away.

The improvements will reveal their potential in Baku

The last two races do not change our expectations. We are going through a difficult moment, he announced on Thursday, August 29, during the press conference. Spa was a good race. Here, we plan to go in the same direction as in Belgium. We hope to get closer to the podium. However, I don’t think victory is achievable.

To achieve this objective, he is counting on the latest improvements made by the Scuderia in Monza. He does however express some reservations. According to him, the Italian circuit is not the best place to assess the effectiveness of the new parts. Azerbaijan and Singapore will be more indicative. « They will be bigger tests for us. But it should go in the right direction anyway. »

A good performance in Italy would be a good thing for the Scuderia. This would prevent McLaren from pulling away, as they are currently the best team on the grid. It will also be necessary to keep an eye on Red Bull, which with its top speed, can afford to have a little more downforce and therefore be more effective in corners. Finally, Mercedes, which had performed well at Spa, a circuit as fast as Monza, had achieved a one-two finish before George Russell was disqualified. The battle promises to be intense near Milan.
