No retirements at the Spanish Grand Prix
All twenty drivers crossed the finish line of the Spanish Grand Prix. A rare event since the arrival of hybrid engines in 2014.
It is a rare fact worth noting. The twenty cars that started this Spanish Grand Prix all saw the checkered flag. This proves that despite the complexity of the engines, it is possible to show a certain reliability throughout the entire race.
Despite some borderline actions, the drivers remained overall well-behaved. This prevented the safety car or its virtual sister from coming to stand in front of everyone just a few steps from Barcelona.
Since the introduction of hybrid engines in 2014, it is only the fourteenth time, out of 213 races, that no car drops out of a race. The last time all twenty competitors finished dates back to the Bahrain Grand Prix early in the season.
In 2016, the twenty-two cars on the grid saw the finish. It was in China and Japan. As a reminder, that year, eleven teams were present in Formula 1.
