Charles Leclerc after the Imola Grand Prix: « We were all very, very close »
The Monegasque was unable to win in front of a partisan crowd in Italy. Nonetheless, he secured a very important podium finish, underlining the narrow performance gap with Red Bull and McLaren.
There are podiums that are happier than others… Charles Leclerc’s at Imola this Sunday is one of them.
« It’s always very special to be on the podium here in Imola. But obviously, I never settle for a P3. You always want to be on the top step of the podium. But taking everything into account, I think we mostly missed an opportunity yesterday in qualifying. And that, we will analyze.
It will indeed need to be analyzed, especially since the next qualifications will take place in Monaco next week… the most important session of the season.
A three-way struggle in sight?
The gaps between the different teams on the grid seem thinner than ever. Charles Leclerc is not displeased by this: « Today, as Lando said, I think we were all very, very close. And it was about who was attacking, at what exact moment in the race. »
The question now is whether Ferrari and McLaren will continue to progress over the rest of the season. Red Bull and Max Verstappen may increasingly find themselves forced to fight as was the case at the end of the Imola Grand Prix.
