6 Hours of Imola – H+2: Porsche takes the lead after a problem for Ferrari

The conditions were perfect. Clear weather, a few scattered clouds in the sky. And above all, an optimal temperature. All the ingredients were there for an ideal start. But as the Isotta Fraschini approached the first chicane, it played bowling.

The Italian hypercar caused a real pile-up in which the Alpine #36, a Peugeot, and a BMW were involved. The collision caused a full course yellow. The Alpine suffered significant damage and had to return to the pits to change the entire front left suspension.

In the lead, the Ferrari #51, which set the third fastest time in the qualifying session, was not hindered and was leading the race after two hours. But a mechanical issue forced the Scuderia to bring it back into the pits, handing over the lead to Porsche #5. Behind, BMW was offering an interesting race by repeatedly entering the top 5.

The Isotta Fraschini was very capricious, with several trips off the track at the end of the second hour of the race. Disappointment also at Ferrari with the 50 and the 83. The first one was penalized and the second one lacked pace.

In LMGT3, the Iron Dames, who were very impressive in qualifying, fell victim to mechanical problems. After a first pit stop to repair the pink Lamborghini, the 100% female crew called it quits due to electrical issues. This sparked anger from Sarah Bovy, who was behind the wheel at the time.

In this category, the Ferrari number 55 of AF Corse and the Porsche #92, which achieved pole position, were competing for the lead. At the end of the two hours, the Italian had the advantage.
