Romain Grosjean finds a seat in an IndyCar for 2024
After losing his seat at Andretti, Romain Grosjean will continue his American adventure with Juncos Hollinger Racing in 2024. He replaces Callum Illot within the American team.
The end of the story with Andretti was anything but a happy ending. Removed by the American team, Grosjean even initiated legal proceedings to assert his rights. Nevertheless, his name continued to circulate across the Atlantic in case a spot became available. That opportunity came from Juncos Hollinger Racing team, who announced last week the end of their collaboration with former driver Callum Ilott. Finishing 16th in the 2023 championship, the British driver had too many disagreements with JHR to continue.
The phoenix has once again bounced back and it will be behind the wheel of the Chevrolet 77 that he will drive, “I have closely followed JHR’s ascent in recent seasons,” he said. “The team has experienced significant growth, and I am excited to bring my experience as we aim for a strong 2024 season.”
Ricardo Juncos, co-owner of the team, emphasizes the significant experience of French driver Romain Grosjean, who has competed at the top of the motorsport (racing) world. He adds, “His expertise will be invaluable as we aim to redefine our level of performance, both on and off the track.”
For now, Grosjean is still chasing his first victory in IndyCar, even though he came close several times. 2024 will be his fourth year in Indy, after 1 season with Dale Coyne Racing and 2 with Andretti. He has achieved 6 podium finishes and 3 pole positions since his arrival in the USA in 2021.
Mid-grid team, Juncos Hollinger Racing finished their 2023 season in 7th place. Progression will be the key word for 2024, so that the team and Grosjean can reach the podium. He will be accompanied by Agustín Canapino, the Argentine who was already a member of the team in 2023, will be part of the team in 2024.
