Max Verstappen breaks his own record of wins in a single F1 season

He doesn’t stop winning. This season, Max Verstappen is unstoppable. Only Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz managed to beat the Dutchman. In Mexico, the triple world champion achieved his 16th victory of the year.

Starting from the third position on the grid, he took advantage of the poor start of the Ferraris to regain the lead of the race. Struggling with his tires, the Red Bull driver was greatly helped by the red flag caused by Kevin Magnussen’s off-track excursion to get back into the race.

With this 16th victory under his belt in 2023, he already beats the record he had set last year with 15 victories. He further extends the record set by Sebastian Vettel, who had 13 victories in 2013. The Dutchman can still accentuate this record as there are still three more races to be contested.

From Brazil, he will be able to erase Alain Prost from the record books. The Frenchman had won 51 times in his career, a total already matched by Max Verstappen. Only Sebastian Vettel, Michael Schumacher, and Lewis Hamilton will remain ahead of him in the career wins ranking.
