Max Verstappen can still break an early age record
The Dutchman has a chance to become a triple world champion, in Qatar. If he gets it, there would then still be five meetings before the end of the season, a record in the hybrid era.
It would be the highlight of a season dominated from A to Z. From the sprint race, Max Verstappen can add a new line to his record. After 13 wins this year, including ten in a row, the Red Bull driver can win a new world crown, this weekend.
But, obtaining this third world title, could enter the history of Formula 1. If the Dutchman wins the championship, this weekend, he would then be the youngest world champion of the hybrid era.
With still five appointments, he would thus beat his own record established last year, with still four deadlines. However, the all-time record will not belong to him. In 2002, Michael Schumacher had pocketed the title, with Ferrari, during the French Grand Prix. There were then six races left until the end of the year.
By the end of the season, Max Verstappen could also become the driver with the largest gap to his runner-up. In 2013, Sebastian Vettel dominated Fernando Alonso. The two men were separated by 155 units.
