Logan Sargeant penalized for pushing Bottas off the track
The American had a nightmarish Japanese Grand Prix. After leaving the pit lane, he was penalized with a five-second penalty for sending Valtteri Bottas into the gravel trap.
These are maneuvers that will not play in his favor. After yet another accident in qualifying, Logan Sargeant had to start from the pits for engine component changes under Parc Fermé regulations. In addition to that, he received a 10-second penalty for changing his settings before the race.
Already condemned to finish in last place, the American driver added new misdeeds to his record. After the intervention of the safety car, the Williams driver locked up his wheels in the hairpin of the Suzuka circuit. Running wide, he collided with Valtteri Bottas’ car.
The Alfa Romeo was sent into the gravel trap, suffering significant damages to its race car. The Finnish driver had to go back to the pits before ultimately retiring from the race. Following this incident, Logan Sargeant has been handed a five-second penalty. He will serve this penalty during a pit stop at the Japanese Grand Prix.
