Fernando Alonso in samurai colors at Suzuka
Fernando Alonso unveiled a special helmet for the occasion of the Japanese Grand Prix, which is taking place this weekend in Suzuka. This helmet was designed by a British company.
He is certainly one of the drivers who changes his helmet design the least often. But when he does, we notice it. Fernando Alonso traditionally wears a helmet with yellow, blue, and a touch of orange. But for the Japanese Grand Prix, none of that. Instead, it’s white, black, and red.
On the occasion of the Japanese leg, the two-time world champion unveiled a special livery. Here, he references the culture of the host country, notably with samurais. One of these warriors appears on the back of the helmet. It is the same samurai that Fernando Alonso had tattooed on his back.
On each side of his helmet, the red circle of the country is positioned prominently, with its number displayed in black on the inside.

The Spanish driver added architectural references from Japan, with arches here and there, as well as typical Japanese temples. The design is done in sobriety, as the sponsor of the driver and Aston Martin appear in black.
The whole set was imagined, designed, and made by MDM Design, a British company based in Coventry, specialized in helmet decorations.
