Pierre Gasly, penalized in turn at Zandvoort
During his second pit stop, Pierre Gasly was speeding. The FIA officials gave him a five-second penalty, according to comments.
Penalties are raining down at the start of the Dutch Grand Prix. After Liam Lawson in the first lap, it is now Pierre Gasly who made a mistake. During his second pit stop, the Frenchman was driving too fast.
Unlike free practice and qualifying sessions, this is not synonymous with a fine but with a time penalty. Therefore, the FIA stewards gave him a five-second penalty. The Alpine driver will have to stop for an additional five seconds during a third pit stop, if he were to dive into the pits again. Otherwise, it will be added to his total race time.
Note that the Frenchman was pushed wide at turn 3 by Max Verstappen. The Alpine number 10 was even forced off the track, but no investigation was opened.
