“I have mixed emotions,” Logan Sargeant reflects on his qualifying session

Race after race, Logan Sargeant gains experience. And it shows in his performances. Although he is overshadowed by his teammate, Alex Albon, the American is showing more and more. After coming very close to scoring points in the first part of the season, he has just reached Q3 for the first time.

During the qualifying session for the Dutch Grand Prix, the Williams driver managed to go faster than Lewis Hamilton, among others. However, his first appearance in Q3 didn’t go well. In just the second lap, he lost control of his car and ended up hitting the wall.

« I have mixed emotions and it’s definitely bittersweet. Making it to Q3 is a huge achievement for us. There are so many positive points to take away. The team and the car were fantastic throughout the weekend, and I managed to put in good laps when it mattered in Q1 and Q2 to get there », shares Logan Sargeant.

Getting points

« We had the impression of having good chances of having one last session on dry land, and Alex proved it with his result. I have to look back and see what didn’t work, but not dwell on it because our pace on the long relays here was excellent. »

After his first appearance in Q3, the American hopes to go after what he hasn’t been able to achieve yet: his first points. « I am very close now, I am starting to understand how to extract the time from the car. »
