McLaren and AlphaTauri break a curfew
The members of the British team were occupying their garages late in the evening. Just like the mechanics of AlphaTauri. Oscar Piastri and Daniel Ricciardo's cars had to be repaired following an accident in FP2.
The accidents during the second free practice session resulted in a lot of work for the mechanics. Oscar Piastri and Daniel Ricciardo both ended their session in the wall at turn 4. While the McLaren driver only damaged his car, it was a tougher outcome for his compatriot. During the crash, he broke his wrist and will have to withdraw for the remainder of the weekend.
To restore the race cars to working order, members of both teams worked late into the night in their garages, breaking curfew. « They were present during the period that began at 9 p.m. on August 25th, 14 hours and 30 minutes before the scheduled start of the FP3, and ended 3 hours before the scheduled start of the FP3, at 8:30 a.m. on August 26th », confirmed by the FIA commissioners.
This is the first curfew out of the two allowed for AlphaTauri and McLaren this season.
