“We are trying to be as stable as possible”, Guanyu Zhou should stay at Alfa Romeo
Without a contract for the next season, the Chinese driver is expected to be behind the wheel once again at Sauber in 2024. Its managers are aiming to have the most stable team possible.
So far, there have been no official announcements regarding extension or transfer. We have only stayed at the stage of rumors. And among all the paddock noises, Guanyu Zhou is at the center of some of them.
The Alfa Romeo driver is currently without a contract for next year. But this uncertainty should soon lose a few letters. « We have always said that stability is important to us », assures Alessandro Alunni Bravi, director of Sauber.
« We are a team undergoing a transformation, and we are trying to be as stable as possible in all areas. Of course, we are constantly looking to improve and seize opportunities. But there will be time after the summer break to sit down with Zhou and see what the best solution will be for both parties. »
The Italian explains that Sauber’s goal is to keep its two drivers for the next season. Therefore, Guanyu Zhou and Valtteri Bottas should once again be on the starting grid in 2024.
