The British company Compound had a crazy idea. They decided to create a pair of shoes made from F1 tires and suits. The collection is set to be released on September 19th.

Recycling is at the heart of everyone’s concerns. Everyone is starting to get involved. First, Pirelli, which is transforming a portion of its old tires to create soft surfaces for children’s playgrounds. But, not everything is transformed.

According to Compound, 15 to 25% of materials used in motorsports are wasted and end up in the trash. Therefore, in order to reduce this percentage, the company has decided to reuse what ends up in the bin to manufacture shoes.

Reducing the carbon footprint

« We offer motorsport and sneaker enthusiasts a unique opportunity to show their support and get closer than ever to the racing action by wearing high-end shoes created from materials used and produced by their favorite teams », details Compound Footwear.

Thus, the company will use F1 tires, as well as suits and a whole bunch of other textiles. It estimates that each year, the teams use 350,000 tons of fabric for their merchandising. Their product therefore allowed to reduce the amount of textiles needed for t-shirts and other jackets.

September 19 release

« Teams can reduce their carbon footprint, avoid landfilling waste, cancel the cost of waste disposal, and convert it all into new warm pairs for their fans. »

Nothing indicates whether these shoes will allow running enthusiasts to gain several seconds on their favorite distance. They will be able to find out starting September 19th, release date.
