Sophia Flörsch becomes the first woman to score points in F3
The German driver finished in seventh place at the Belgium Grand Prix, in Spa, in F3. By entering the points zone, she makes history in the sport as a woman.
She finally got them. One month after seeing her first points taken away due to a disqualification in Austria, Sophia Flörsch is making history. At Spa, the German driver qualified only 24th, but that did not stop her from making progress in the rankings.
Throughout the race, the Alpine Academy driver managed to climb up to seventh place. Her tire management, especially when the track started to dry, allowed her to reach that position. The German driver chose to keep her rain tires, while others switched to slicks. A winning gamble.
« I think the race ended at the right time because at a certain point the slicks were going to go faster, but we had such a gap that it worked out, but it wasn’t easy,” she indicated.
This final position is synonymous with points. Six to be more precise. It makes her the first woman to score points in Formula 3.

« It was really a superb race,” she says. « Otherwise, I am very happy to score my first points. I thank my team and the F1 team Alpine, with its Rac(H)er program. Without them, I wouldn’t have had my first points here. »
From now on, Sophia Flörsch, like the rest of the grid, will take a break before resuming competition at Monza on September 1st. Thanks to her six points, she is now 22nd in the standings.
