Carlos Sainz retires at Spa as well
The Spanish driver, involved in a collision in the first lap, has just thrown in the towel. His Belgian Grand Prix lasted 23 laps.
He crashed. Starting in fourth position, Carlos Sainz was involved in a collision at the first turn. The Spanish driver wanted to take the inside line but may not have seen Oscar Piastri’s McLaren. The two cars collided.
This caused damage to the Ferrari, resulting in a significant loss of pace. On the straight, the Spanish driver lost several positions, while some drivers were not in possession of the DRS. Quickly, the number 55 driver found himself in last position.
Despite significant damage, Ferrari has decided to keep their driver on track, before changing their mind on the 24th lap. This is the second retirement of this Belgian Grand Prix, following Oscar Piastri’s in the first lap.
