Max Verstappen elected driver of the day in Belgium
The Dutchman won the Belgian Grand Prix and the Driver of the Day title following his small comeback from sixth place.
This reward is debatable. Max Verstappen, starting from the sixth position, didn’t have much difficulty climbing back to first place. The Dutch driver took advantage of the collision between Oscar Piastri and Carlos Sainz to gain two positions for free.
The Red Bull driver then struggled for several laps behind Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes for second place. To see him fight, if we can call it that, we had to wait for the first round of pit stops. The double world champion took one and a half laps to catch up to his teammate, even though he had a three-second lead.
The overtaking was done without any resistance from the Mexican. Max Verstappen was then able to go through his race without being worried. He crossed the finish line with a comfortable twenty-second lead.
Anyway, the Dutchman won the title of driver of the day, even though there were other men behind him who deserved it more.
