Haas receives a fine of 10,000 € in Hungary

Twice 5,000 euros. Haas received two fines during this Hungarian Grand Prix. One concerned Nico Hülkenberg. The other, Kevin Magnussen. However, both drivers are not to blame. It is the team’s fault.

The reason for these fines is rather complex. The American team had to return a set of intermediate tires allocated to each of its drivers to Pirelli. That’s what Haas did. However, it seems that the mechanics forgot to scan them before the qualifying session, as required by the regulations.

As Haas did not comply with this point of the regulations, the FIA has imposed two fines on the team.

Article 30.5 paragraph G of the F1 sporting regulations explains: « For each Grand Prix where a sprint session is not scheduled, if Free Practice 1 or 2 is declared “wet”, an additional set of intermediate tires will be made available to any driver who has used a set of intermediate tires during either session. In such circumstances, a used set of intermediate tires must be returned and scanned before the start of the qualifying practice session.

If neither P1 nor P2 are declared wet, but the probability that P3 is declared wet is deemed high by the FIA, an extra set of intermediate tires will be made available to all drivers. In such circumstances, a set of intermediate tires must be electronically returned before the start of the qualifying session. »

Without having scanned the tires before qualifying, Haas violated the regulations.
