Logan Sargeant is closing in on points with Williams
At Silverstone, Logan Sargeant was really close to scoring his first points in F1. The American driver declared after the Grand Prix, "Everything is coming together, slowly but surely."
During the practice sessions, the Williams drivers showed some very promising things and an astonishing pace. The question was whether this would be the same for the race, allowing the British team to score points at home. This turned out to be the case thanks to Alex Albon, who finished in 8th place in the Grand Prix. However, Logan Sargeant also showed a strong performance in the race, finishing just outside the points behind Carlos Sainz. This is a big step forward for the American rookie who is slowly getting into the groove of his teammate, and it’s a positive sign for the future.
Sargeant confident
Qualified 14th in the British Grand Prix, there was improvement for Logan Sargeant, even though he was still slightly behind his teammate. At the end of the Grand Prix, he finished 11th, less than 5 seconds behind Carlos Sainz. No points for the American but a good progress in the race and throughout his weekend in general. After Austria, it is another promising weekend for the rookie, who seems to be finding his footing more and more within Formula 1.
« These have been two good consecutive weekends, we must continue to build on this foundation. I feel like I’m starting to drive much better and much closer to the limit, and more precisely what the car needs. Everything is coming together, slowly but surely. If we keep going in this direction, we will soon end up in the points. That’s our goal,” declared Logan Sargeant.
Logan Sargeant explains that he is working hard to progress and thus achieve his first points. « “I am working as hard as possible for the team, and they are doing the same for me. Everyone is motivated. We are close to scoring points every weekend, and Alex is scoring points »,” he explained.
Alex Albon as a role model
If Logan Sargeant explains that he is making progress and feeling more and more comfortable behind the wheel of the Williams, he also mentions the role his teammate plays in his learning process. Here’s what he says about it.
« His driving is phenomenal. Even when I do a good lap, there are still a few tenths left on the table. It’s sometimes challenging. I think that if you’re not pushed out of your comfort zone, you never grow. I feel like he has been able to help me in that regard. This year, I saw what needed to be done. It showed me how hard I had to work to reach this level,” explained Sargeant.
The American driver is optimistic for the rest of the season and is determined to score his first points in Formula 1. « Slowly but surely, I’m getting there, that’s for sure. I just have to keep working and everything will fall into place. »
