Nyck De Vries is having a tough first part of the season. The 28-year-old rookie has had disappointing results in the first races, still not scoring any points. Often beaten by his teammate, Yuki Tsunoda, Nyck De Vries has yet to make his mark at AlphaTauri.
Last encouraging Grand Prix
The last two Grand Prix weekends can allow Nyck de Vries to dream of better days. In Monaco and Spain, the Dutchman finished twelfth and fourteenth, with race paces that were more convincing than before.
« I think this weekend was a good step for me and for the team. […] The last two Grand Prix weekends have been very encouraging for me », the Formula E world champion said after the race in Spain.
“Build on the result”
With these two results, the Dutchman hopes to be able to move forward and score his first points with AlphaTauri. In a struggling AlphaTauri, and even more so for him, who has not managed to find the adequate pace to compete with his direct rivals.
” We will go on very different circuits from Barcelona. The package must be adapted to all circuits. Canada will be a little different. But the last two weeks have been very good and I hope we can build on these results,” stated Nyck de Vries.
For now, Nyck de Vries believes that his car could perform better on Saturdays. I think we could have much more pace in qualifying, on Saturdays, and gain positions for Sundays. The key to moving forward is to be more consistent and overall more competitive. The other things will come naturally, added the Dutch driver.
