Ralf Schumacher unleashes himself again about Ferrari

Former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher has once again been critical on Sky about Ferrari and has suggested that the Scuderia can “forget about this season” and focus on 2024.

Charles Leclerc secured the only podium of the season for Ferrari, as well as the team’s only pole position for a Sunday race. Besides that, the first 7 races have been perilous for the tifosi.

Ferrari is in fourth place in the constructors’ standings, behind Red Bull, Mercedes, and the surprising Aston Martin team. The contrast between last year and this year is strong.

But since the beginning of the season, the degradation of the tires has limited the ability of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to compete with their rivals.

During the Spanish Grand Prix, Sainz started his home race from second place on the starting grid, but he plummeted to fifth place without being able to respond to Sergio Perez, Lewis Hamilton, or even George Russell.

In the Dutch media, Ralf Schumacher stated: “The biggest problem is Ferrari. Team boss Fred Vasseur seems lost. When I asked him how long it would take for Ferrari to catch up with the leaders, he replied, “We first need to identify the problem, then we can say how long it will take.”

They don’t really know what the problem is, they have been experiencing the issue of the tire degrading too quickly for a year now. In Barcelona, apart from the qualifiers, they were simply too slow.

« Ferrari is once again venturing down a path full of obstacles. Vasseur has only been in office for a few months, which requires time and he must be given it.

He is currently in the process of integrating new people into the team. It may take some time before they start working and this work bears fruit.

« It is therefore entirely possible that Ferrari forgets this season and the beginning of next year. »
