He could move back three places on the grid. During the first qualifying session, Pierre Gasly was on a slow lap. Warned by his engineers, he let Charles Leclerc pass but didn’t see Carlos Sainz coming behind.
In the second-to-last turn, the French driver was going quite slow on the trajectory. The Spanish driver, who was on a fast lap, had to cut his momentum. He then radioed to complain about the situation. Immediately, the stewards indicated that they would open an investigation. Pierre Gasly’s case will be examined after the qualifying session.
