Ferrari apologizes to Leclerc

The chances for Charles Leclerc to secure his first home podium have vanished after this crucial error in the qualifying session of the Monaco Grand Prix.

Ferrari apologizes to Leclerc

Frédéric Vasseur, team principal of Scuderia Ferrari, has apologized to Charles Leclerc for the lack of communication that deprived him of the third place on the starting grid of the Monaco Grand Prix.

The Monégasque has not yet climbed onto the podium in the streets of his childhood. A curse that seems to haunt Charles Leclerc every year.

Leclerc has been demoted three places on the grid for obstructing Lando Norris’ McLaren in the tunnel. This is where Ferrari’s mistake lies, as the Monegasque driver was not alerted by his team that the English driver was behind him on a quick lap.

Finally, in the race, he will not manage to make the necessary overtakings to reach the podium, Charles Leclerc finishes in 6th place in the race.

“He’s been a little frustrated in Monaco for a few years,” stated Vasseur to the media.

It was difficult at first to lose the pole position by a tenth or something like that, to lose the first row by two hundredths, and then the penalty.

(I) I can only apologize on behalf of the team and understand how we can do a better job and improve communication between the pit wall and Charles in these conditions.

I think it’s also due to the circumstances in which it happened, in the tunnel. But we must avoid making excuses, as that’s the worst way to improve.

But we clearly made a costly mistake, because I believe that if we had started from third place, we could have had a different race, but we must learn from it.
